13 arrested in Trans Nzoia operation targeting gang members
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of 13 persons of interest during an operation targeting gang members in Trans-Nzoia County.
According to a statement shared by the DCI on their social media pages on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the persons of interest were apprehended during a coordinated swoop in the Gitwamba area, where they are believed to have been involved in criminal gang activities and related offences.

According to the National Police Service, the operation was intelligence-led and carried out by a multi-agency security team as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks that have been linked to violence, theft, intimidation, and disruption of public order.

Authorities stated that the crackdown is part of broader measures aimed at restoring safety and stability in affected areas, with law enforcement agencies intensifying surveillance and targeted operations against organised criminal groups.
The police service reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all individuals involved in criminal activities are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Residents have also been urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities through official channels.
Goon mobiliser
This comes days after another coordinated security operation in Trans-Nzoia County led to the arrest of a person of interest linked to mobilising goons who are responsible for criminal activities in the region.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Administration Police Service, and the General Service Unit (GSU), working together with local police, arrested the goon mobiliser following intelligence-led operations.
According to a statement shared by sleuths from DCI on Thursday, April 23, 2026, during the raid at his residence, officers recovered several items believed to be used in illegal mobilisation activities, including reflector jackets, stickers, swords, and other materials.
