Kenya’s representatives to the Road to BAL (Basketball Africa League) 2025 Qualifiers Nairobi City Thunder started their Group E (East Division) campaign solid Wednesday evening with a convincing 89-58 over Beau Vallon Heat of Seychelles at Dar es Salaam’s Filbert Bayi School.

Thunder who are making their debut in this important tournament had the duo of foreign imports William Davis II and Uchenna Ireogbu with the former posting 26 points and helping out with 11 assists.

Uchenna on his part had a similar number of assists to his name but with 10 points in the bag to help Brad Ibs side to their first ever win in the Championship.

The Kenyan Champions led 20-16 at close of first Quarter in a seesaw battle between both sets of teams. Derrick Ogechi was strong and decisive in play for Thunder as he helped cushion the gap at the board.

In the second stanza of the game, the Kenyan outfit came back stronger with a good depth as they widened the scores to 23-13 with momentum evidently on their side.

The winning side relied on pace on breaks but also explored weak defense to capitalize on the brute beat down.
