Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced that next year’s much-awaited World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally will feature new exciting routes.
Murkomen in a statement shared via his official social media handles on Thursday, October 24, 2024, stated that the new routes will go through villages, allowing spectators to not only catch the live action but also interact with the rally drivers.

The announcement followed Murkomen’s meeting meeting with the Oversight Team and the Steering Committee responsible for organizing the event, led by the WRC Safari Rally Kenya CEO Charles Gacheru.
The former Transport CS expressed confidence in the preparations, stating that the team is ahead of schedule.
The meeting provided key updates on the event’s progress, and the planning committee assured Murkomen that they are on track to deliver a memorable experience for both fans and drivers.
“The Safari Rally is one of Kenya’s premier sporting events, enjoying a massive global audience and a fervent local fan base. Next year’s race, to be held from 20th to 23rd March, will feature new exciting routes and for the first time, have a rally village where spectators will not only catch the live action but also interact with the drivers.
“This morning, I met the Oversight Team and the Steering Committee charged with planning the event led by the WRC Safari Rally Kenya CEO Mr. Charles Gacheru. The team assured me that they’re ahead of schedule on the set timelines and are on course to deliver a memorable event,” Murkomen stated.

2025 Safari Rally calendar
According to the WRC Safari Rally 2025 calendar, the event will be held in Kenya from March 20, 2025, to March 23, 2025.
The WRC Safari Rally Kenya has been confirmed as the third round of the Federation International De’ I’ Automobile (FIA) 2025 calendar.
The past WRC Safari Rally Kenya events have been hosted in Naivasha, but fans will now have to eagerly await more details on the new routes and event schedule.
