TRIED N’ TASTED: Turkish taste
I remember when Big Knife started operating in the CBD in 2015. It had a small seating space that could just fit around 10 people.
It was my frequent lunch spot due to its affordability and the sumptuousness of their shawarmas.
They would completely win me over one evening when they brought me some complementary Turkish tea, as it was raining outside.
That is when I started stopping over for shawarmas, even when I was not hungry. A walk in the CBD would always end in the restaurant, where watching the chicken and beef spin on their rotisseries ready to be sliced and stuffed into shawarmas was a welcome sight.
It has been a delight to see the restaurant grow. They now have a second outlet in South C and a third in Hurlingham. They have also expanded their menu to include pizza and whole meals such as chicken served with rice and salad.
Their seating area in the town branch is larger now and well designed with plant hangings and strategically placed mirrors to enliven the space. They always have offers.
This week’s was two shawarmas and any large pizza for Sh990.
My friend and I only took the shawarmas with a juice and hot chocolate, as we were in a hurry to get to an exam. We will be back for the pizza though.
