European league top scorers during 2019/20 season

Covid-19 no doubt hit major European leagues like a thunderbolt which resulted into many of them being shelved due to fears of players and officials contracting the virus.
Fortunately, some of them like Italian Serie A, La liga and Premier League resumed behind closed doors as a precautionary measure and we take a peek on who takes it all in as far as shaking the net is concerned.
Here is a list of the top 10 players who had no qualms converting chances into goals thus lighting up our sitting rooms despite there being no one in the gallaries to applaud their efforts.
Ciro Immobile Lazio -36 goals
Italian scoring machine Ciro Immobile has been a revelation in Serie A with Lazio.
Immobile has literally been on fire in the 2019/2020 season in which he has incredibly notched 36 goals.
He managed to inscribe his name in the annals of the league’s history in the 2013-14 and 2017-18 seasons when he emerged the top scorer.
However, as fate would have it, he missed the Golden Boot in both occasions and this is a frailt he hopes to rectify in future.
Robert Lewandowski Bayern Munich -34 goals
Considered one of the most prolific strikers in the Bundesliga, Robert Lewandowski has been burning the midnight oil to do better in as far as scoring is concerned.
His dream did come true as he better his tally of 22 last season after finding the back of the net 34 times.
The Poland international is in a scoring mood and if there will be no injury concerns, pundits think he can do even better to the point of challenging for the Golden Boot honours.
Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus-31 goals
Ronaldo, who is four-time Golden Shoe winner, has rediscovered his goal-scoring antics in Serie A after a lukewarm start of the season.
His burst of speed has endeared him to the team’s handlers and at this rate, he may be on the strikers every defenders shall dread marking next season.
Timo Werner RB Leipzig-28 goals
Timo Werner is gradually improving in breaking defence lines if his latest performance is any guide.
The man who scored 21 Bundesliga goals in 2016-17 has been unstoppable in the 2019/20 season as he has bettered the record by scoring eight more goals.
Shon Weissman Wolfsberger- 30 goals
Israel international Shon Weissman who Wolfsberger lured from Maccabi Haifi ahead of the 2019-20 season has literally struck it rich.
With top names like Erling Haaland out of the groove , he has the bragging rights of being the top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga this season with 30 strikes to his name.
Erling Haaland Red Bull Salzburg-Borussia Dortmund-29 goals
Adventurous teenage striker Erling Haaland is ruffling feathers with his scintillating performance for RB Salzburg.
He scored 16 times in the Austrian Bundesliga , a feat which saw him pen a deal with Dortmund in January.
He made his debut in the German Bundesliga in the most memorable of fashions, scoring a hat-trick during his debut as a substitute and his 29 goals came as no surprise.
Lionel Messi Barcelona-25 goals
Messi has an eye for goal and that is un-debatable. The six-time Golden Boot winner and current trophy-holder has been a perfect finisher which makes him a red-hot contender for the 2019-20 title.
Known as a play-maker, Messi wound last season with 36 goals to secure his third consecutive Golden Shoe on the way to domestic glory.
Romelu Lukaku Inter-23 goals
Romelu Lukaku is an accomplished goal-scorer whose efforts have taken a new dimension after failure to live up to the occasion while playing for Manchester United.
At Inter, Lukaku is getting the perfect combination and at 23 goals thus far, he is envisaged to do much better and increase the tally.
However, he has taken up the challenge commendably and is thriving with the service he is receiving from his team-mates at Inter where he has been a regular scorer.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsenal -22 goals
Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has ever reason to be proud after being joint winner of the Premier League Golden Boot in 2018-19.
Aubameyang, who was recently named Arsenal captain, was on target 22 times and can certainly do better to help Gunners earn improved fortunes this season.
