Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has praised President William Ruto after launching a water project on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Ruto visited the Western region county in one of his development tours before he left for Nandi County.
In Kakamega, Ruto launched a water project in Malava, and according to the governor, the project will produce 1.2 million litres per day.
“In a positive step towards bringing water to the residents’ doorsteps, dubbed ‘Amatsi Khumuliango,’ I welcomed H.E. President Dr. William Ruto to Namanja, Butali Chegulo Ward, Malava Sub-County, to commission the Malava Cluster Water Project, Lot III.
“This project, which will produce 1.2 million liters per day and serve approximately 100,000 residents, complements other initiatives under our ambitious county water program, including Khuvasali, Malava, and Chombeli,” Governor Barasa said in a statement on X.
The county boss also said that his government will collaborate with the national government in ensuring key projects are completed.
“The County Government of Kakamega is also collaborating with the national government to complete several key projects, including Bukhungu International Stadium, Kakamega Level-6 Hospital, Kakamega Airstrip, and, most importantly, the elevation of Kakamega Municipality to city status,” Barasa added.
The president promised that his government will ensure every household is considered for water projects.
“We will leave no one behind in our quest to provide sufficient and safe water for households. Commissioned the Malava Cluster Water Supply Project, Lot III, in Namanja, Kakamega County.
“With a daily supply capacity of 1.2 million litres a day, the water project will serve more than 100,000 people in Chemuche, East Kabras, South Kabras, Shirugu Mugai, Butali Chegulo, and Manda Shivaga,” Ruto said in a statement on X on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
In Kakamega, the president was also joined by Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya and Malava MP Malulu Injendi.
In Nandi County, President Ruto launched another water project in Kipsebwa in Nandi Hills Constituency.
“The Nandi Hills Water Project, currently supplying 250,000 litres of water a day to 1,000 households, will be expanded so as to benefit at least 10,000 in three years. In Kipsebwa, Nandi Hills Constituency, commissioned the Nandi Hills Water Project,” the Head of State said.
