George Mwangi Kabeberi 7s leg of the SportPesa Rugby Sevens National Circuit was launched on Wednesday, with 16 teams set to compete at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday and Sunday in Nairobi.

The tourney is expected to continue until end the month of August.

Kabras RFC, fresh from winning their very first Dala 7s tournament in Kisumu last weekend, will be hoping to repeat their success at Kabeberi.

As the top-seeded team with 61 points, Kabras will face Nakuru RFC, Strathmore Leos, and invited guests Impala RFC in Group A.

“We are currently leading the table, and our objective is to win the Kabeberi. Everything has a first time; Kisumu has always been difficult for us, but we finally conquered it, and so will Kabeberi,” stated Kabras coach Felix Ayange during a training session in Kakamega County.

Dala 7s finalists and runners-up Menengai Oilers are in Pool B with Catholic Monks, Kabete Stallions Rugby, and invited Kisumu RFC, who hosted the last tournament at the Mambo Leo Stadium last weekend.

Pool C includes Kenya Harlequin, who will go up against Nondies and varsity sides Daystar Falcons and Blak Blad, while Pool D features MMUST Rugby Club, KCB Rugby, hosts Mwamba, and the newly promoted MKU Thika.
