Best of wishes for KCSE candidates

By , March 14, 2022

Form Four candidates will be sitting the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) as from today. There is no gainsaying that this cohort has had to endure many challenges to get to where they have. They deserve a pat on the back.

The examinations are a critical element in determining their future and the candidates ought to put their best foot forward.

The Covid-19 has impacted all spheres of our lives but slowly the country is overcoming. Who would have imagined relaxation of the Covid rules in the country? The same way the society is trudging on, so should the candidates.

Also, to be lauded is the government for pulling all stops to ensure the exams are credible. Over the years, the Government has worked hard to do away with cheating in national examinations and now negligible cases are reported.

As the Ministry of Education has insisted, the candidates should not allow themselves to be misled by cartels out to destroy their future.

During the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams (KCPE) last week, there were minimal incidents reported, with only three centre managers arrested for exposing the exams earlier than the stipulated time.

The ministry is, however, on high alert to avert any cases of cheating, which are mostly reported with KCSE compared to KCPE.

But the ministry has dared any bold supervisor to attempt to leak the papers and they will face the full force of the law. According to the ministry, it has modalities to detect any form of interference.

Similarly, the Government has adopted a multi-agency approach to deliver a credible exam, where all candidates get grades they deserve.

Similarly, candidates are advised to stay calm as they sit their exams, with assurances that it will cover what they have been learning in the last four years.

The assurances come against the backdrop of disruptions caused by Covid-19 pandemic which slowed down normal learning.

The candidates have been forced to make do with a constrained schedule within a short time and still sit their exams. A candidate’s effort is key and they should do their best.

Most of all, they should not allow themselves to be misled by unscrupulous people who take advantage of them.

Exams are part of life and candidates should take KCSE as any other paper.

Nothing comes easy, hard work pays and as they begin their journey to the future, we wish them well.
