Zani to vie for Kwale governor post
Nominated senator Agnes Zani has declared interest in the Kwale governor’s seat, setting the stage for a tough fight with two other candidates in the ODM primaries.
Speaking at Mwangulu market in Lungalunga, Zani who is also the ODM deputy secretary general said time was ripe for change in the Kwale county leadership. “I have received blessings from our party leader Raila Odinga and today I announce to you that as a woman and daughter of Kwale county, I will be in the race for the governorship seat come August 9.”
Zani will battle for the ODM ticket with Agricult-ure Principal Secretary Hamadi Boga, former KPA engineer Lung’anzi Chai and Kwale county assembly speaker Sammy Ruwa.
“I want to lead Kwale through ODM because this is an ODM stronghold and that is why Raila asked me to go for it,” she said. The aspirants on Monday crossed ranks in support of Raila’s presidential campaign. Lunganzi was initially in Deputy President William Ruto’s camp but has since switched to Azimio after the DP appeared to be sympathetic to the candidature of deputy governor Fatma Achani.
“Do not get tired to vote for Raila in August. Go and vote for him massively like you did in 2013 and 2017. We are almost there. Raila is almost getting to State House now,” Boga said.
