Willis Otieno: Election integrity begins with registration
Renowned constitutional lawyer and Safina Party Deputy Leader Willis Evans Otieno has issued a rallying call to Kenyan citizens, urging them to take voter registration as a ‘deliberate’ act of national duty ahead of the next General Election.
In a statement on his official X account on Monday, March 23, 2026, Otieno emphasized that the foundation of a stable democracy is not built on election day, but during the ongoing registration process.
He advised every eligible Kenyan to register at polling stations where they are certain they can be physically present on election day, rather than prioritizing temporary convenience.

“As a matter of electoral prudence, every eligible citizen should ensure they are registered at a polling station where they can physically be present on election day,” Otieno noted.
Avoid logistics complications
He warned that failing to register in a location where one can realistically travel to on the day of the vote often leads to logistical complications, such as displacement or the burden of long-distance travel.
“Accuracy in registration prevents logistical complications such as displacement, long‑distance travel, or disenfranchisement due to absence,” Otieno stated.
Otieno advised voters to choose their polling station based on certainty rather than convenience, verify their registration details early with the electoral commission, and keep a record of their confirmation.

He added that a prepared and informed electorate is the foundation of a stable democracy, urging citizens to “register correctly, show up deliberately, and vote decisively.
“Choose your polling station based on certainty, not convenience. Verify the details early with the electoral commission, and keep a record of your registration confirmation. Election integrity doesn’t begin at the ballot box; it begins with orderly, informed voter registration,” Otieno said.
Niko Kadi Initiative
The new wave of political engagement is sweeping across the country as Gen Z voters document their journey toward the 2027 general election. On TikTok, X, Instagram, in matatus, university campuses, and even in casual conversations among friends, the phrase is everywhere.

Speaking during an interview on a local station on Sunday, March 23, 2026, Allans framed the movement as one sponsored by citizens themselves, past injustices, and a growing demand for accountability through the ballot.
He said the Gen Z-led voter mobilisation campaign is not funded by conventional sponsors but driven by the lived experiences and frustrations of ordinary Kenyans.
“We are sponsored by Kenyans; we are sponsored by those who died in 2024, We are sponsored by the 1.3 trillion that was stolen the other day; we are sponsored by the 43 million that was stolen from e-Citizen,” Allans stated
