‘We will bring the seat home’ – UDA Ol Kalou aspirants declare
By Wanjeri Kariuki, May 1, 2026Ol Kalou, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants have vowed to reclaim the parliamentary seat and dethrone their opponents in the upcoming by-election.
Speaking after a consultative meeting held in Nakuru Town, the six aspirants – Bishop Joseph Ndirangu, Kimani Mwangi, Ndung’u Wangenye, Joseph Chuchu, Stanely Kiama, and Peter Mugo – all eyeing the Member of Parliament seat said they will work together and eventually agree on one flag bearer ahead of the July 2026 by-election.
The seat fell vacant following the death of the area Member of Parliament, George Kiaraho, who succumbed to illness in March 2026.

Ol Kalou by-election
UDA members from Ol Kalou in Nyandarua County expressed confidence in securing the seat.
“As members of UDA, we will ensure that only one candidate from the party is fronted to vie for the seat and deliver victory in the July 2026 by-election,” Wangenye said.
The aspirants, however, decried what they termed the marginalisation of Nyandarua County, attributing it to leaders being in the opposition.
“Nyandarua County has lagged in terms of development due to our leaders consistently opposing the government. It is therefore our objective to align the people of Nyandarua with the government so they can benefit from available resources,” Mwangi said.
They also called on the party to conduct a free and fair nomination process ahead of the hotly contested by-election.
“We urge the party to ensure a free and fair nomination. No one should be awarded the party ticket based on their background, financial status, or affiliations within the party,” Stanely Kiama stated.

Use of goons
The aspirants further condemned the use of violence and goons by political leaders to intimidate opponents.
They expressed confidence that one of them will emerge victorious and become the next MP for Ol Kalou Sub-County after the July 2026 by-election.
