We have not lost — Panyako speaks after defeat in Malava polls
Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate in the Malava parliamentary by-elections, Seth Panyako, has broken his silence on the outcome of the parliamentary seat.
In a sombre post on his Facebook page this Friday, November 28, 2025, Panyako decried the manipulation of results and cases of intimidation targeting himself and his campaign team.
He called on his campaign team to be proud of their achievements despite enduring the painful defeat.
“We have not lost; we won. Despite the violence against us and attempts on my life, you stood firm. Our heads are still up. My campaign team and the team that stood firm. Congratulations. For those who stood up for the victimisation at the tallying centre. Thank you all,” he stated.

Panyako lost to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa by 1354 votes in a closely contested by-election.
IEBC Returning Officer Abdalla Salim declared Ndakwa the winner on Friday morning in a race that attracted eight candidates.

Contested results
Panyako, however, contested the results, claiming that he won in more than half of the polling centres.
The DAP-K candidate claimed that a total of 54 stations had their results altered to deliver victory to his opponent.
“We won in 134 out of 198 polling stations, but still, they managed to manipulate and subvert the will of the people. They used 54 polling stations to steal the elections. Thank you, my Malava people; your love and trust in me have been steadfast. But to those who subverted your will, judgment awaits them,” he said.
Panyako, who previously revealed that the poll would be his last stab for the seat after several attempts, concluded by thanking his campaign team and the DAP-K party.
“My DAP-K party leaders and all the leaders and the lawyers who stood with me, I say thank you once again. Those who supported me financially, including those who contributed 1 bob, I say thank you. I have not lost this election, and therefore it cannot determine my political future,” he stated.
