‘We don’t want nusu mkate gov’t’ – Eugine Wamalwa
Democraic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugine Wamalwa now says Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition is not interested in sharing power with the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking during the coalition’s Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting at Stoni Athi in Machakos County on Thursday, March 6, 2023, Wamalwa said the Azimio leadership is only interested in fighting for Kenyans.
“An accord means an agreement. It is an agreement for the people of Kenya and not for sharing power. We don’t want a nusu mkate government,” he said.
Wamalwa said the Kenya Kwanza government was already a nusu mkate government.
“We don’t want a nusu mkate governemnt because already, Kenya Kwanza governement is already divided. DP Rigathi Gachagua has already told us that this government is for shareholders. They have shared it already,” he said.
Kenya Kwanza government
Gachagua on March 31, 2023 maintained that the Kenya Kwanza government will not enter into any power sharing deal with the opposition.
Speaking at Bandari Maritime Academy in Mombasa after flagging off over 500 seafarers, the Deputy President further said the Kenya Kwanza government can only discuss Raila’s exit from the political scene but not power sharing.
“We are not ready to violate the Constitution. There is no way we can allow Raila to come to government through the backdoor.
“You have interrupted business as you pursue your selfish agenda, and we can’t allow you to come and destroy our government,” said Gachagua.
He dismissed Raila’s threats that the demonstrations will go on until their demands are met.
“These demonstrations will fizzle out. Now we have seen it is only Kibera and Kisumu protesting. It is only because they are being used by Raila for his selfish gains. We congratulate the Coast region for maintaining peace and staying away from protests,” said the Deputy President.
He added: “When he negotiated for his handshake, he never took anyone from the Coast. This man has used violence to achieve his interests year in year out. He has no agenda for the Coast people.”
Azimio has sinced called off demonstrations to allow room for dialogue with the government.
