Wavinya lauds Kalonzo after being named as Wiper presidential candidate
By Kiprono Keileb, October 10, 2025Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on opposition leaders to remain united while applauding Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka for his endorsement as the party’s 2027 presidential flagbearer.
In a message shared on her official X account on Friday, October 10, 2025, the governor expressed her full support for Kalonzo’s leadership, saying the unity of the opposition was key to transforming the country’s leadership and steering Kenya toward a better future.
It is worth noting that Wavinya has been rooting for Kalonzo’s presidential bid.
“The united opposition leaders, led by the Wiper Patriotic Front Party Leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, I wish you well as you embark on this important journey to transform the leadership of our country,” Wavinya said.

Her message comes at a time when the opposition is reorganising itself, with discussions around coalition unity and strategy intensifying ahead of 2027. Wavinya’s words echoed a growing call among Wiper supporters and other United Opposition leaders for teamwork and shared purpose as they seek to strengthen their political base.
She urged all delegates and members of the Wiper Patriotic Front to stand solidly behind Kalonzo and other opposition principals, emphasising that internal unity was the foundation for meaningful national change.

“To all the delegates of our great party, let us continue standing firmly behind our party leader and the other principals as we work together toward a better future for our nation,” she said.
Wavinya’s statement reflects her long-standing loyalty to the Wiper Party and to Kalonzo, who hails from the same Ukambani region. Her remarks both show solidarity and a rallying call to consolidate the opposition’s support base ahead of the next election cycle.

By appealing to unity, she sought to remind members that political strength lies in cohesion rather than division. Her message also reflected a broader sentiment among opposition figures who believe Kalonzo represents stability, experience, and a chance for renewed leadership.
As the political scene begins to heat up, Wavinya’s call means she views Kalonzo as a central figure in Kenya’s opposition politics. Her appeal reinforces the message that staying united is the opposition’s best path toward shaping the country’s future.
