Wanga: Sifuna is not a mandatory signatory to ODM party funds

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has dismissed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, saying that he is not a mandatory signatory of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party funds.

This comes days after the embattled ODM secretary-general questioned the source of funds used to bankroll the activities of the Oburu Odinga-led Linda Ground Forum, claiming that he is a signatory of ODM funds; he had not appended any signature for the funds being used in the forums.

Speaking during an interview with a local media station on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the outspoken ODM chairperson clarified that Sifuna is not a mandatory signatory and that the only mandatory signatory in the ODM party is the treasurer, Timothy Bosire.

“Unajua katibu mkuu alisema, ati tunaenda mkutano na mimi sijapiga sahihi, wacha nieleze hapa. The secretary general is not a mandatory signatory of ODM; the only mandatory signatory is the treasury Timmothy Bosire.”

She went on to state that if one of the signatories of ODM accounts is unavailable, the signature of the treasury is sufficient for funds to be released and does not necessarily require waiting for the other signatories.

Wanga also responded to Sifuna’s questioning of the source of funds used in the Linda Ground Forum, saying that ODM is a big party with supporters and well-wishers who are committed to supporting and financing party activities.

She further challenged Sifuna to explain who is supporting and financing the Linda Mwananchi political activities, arguing that it cannot be the work of the leaders alone.

This comes days after Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who confirmed that the Linda Ground movement, which comprises mostly individuals supportive of the government, backs the party’s proposed pact with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

According to the senator, the Linda Ground was formed on December 27, 2025, at President William Ruto’s Kilgoris residence, where the budget for the movement was presented.

He added that during that Kilgoris meeting, a plan to remove Sifuna was also hatched. The forum was specifically composed of party members aligned with the broad-based agenda, and the president himself directed that Sifuna and Ososti should not attend the meeting.
