Wamuthende expresses hope of UDA winning in 2 Mbeere North by-elections
Mbeere North Member of Parliament Leonard Wamuthende has expressed hope that the United Democratic Alliance will clinch the by-elections in Evurore and Muminji wards in the Mbeere North constituency.
In a short Facebook post on Thursday, February 26, 2026, a statement was made that calls for the transformation of the Mbeere North constituency, stating the hope to deliver.
“We shall deliver! #TransformingMbeereNorth,” Wamuthende stated.

The positions were left vacant following the resignation of Newton Karish, who was the Muminji area MCA and later the DP candidate who lost to the current member of parliament Leo Wamuthende in a hotly contested race in the November 27, 2025, by-elections, and Duncan Mbui, who was Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Evurore Ward before giving up his seat to also contest for the same seat, where he emerged a distant third after running on a Chama Cha Kazi party ticket whose party leader is Moses Kuria.
Muminji Ward features 7 candidates
Aspirants in the Muminji ward byelections include Ngari Boniface (Devolution Empowerment Party), John Nyaga (UPA), Njeru Cosmas (National Economic Development Party), Njiru Joseph (Umoja na Maendeleo Party), Njiru Peterson Njeru (UDA), Njuki Charles Kiura (The We Alliance Party), and Nthiga Zachary Mbogo (Kenya Moja Movement Party).
Evurore ward’s 9 aspirants
Meanwhile, Evurore Ward, also in Embu County, has 9 candidates vying for the MCA seat. They include Kabuthi Catherine (UPA), Kigoro Albert (Democratic Party), Mate Johnson Mukui (Independent), Muriithi Martin (National Economic Development Party), Njeru Joseph (People’s Liberation Party), Njeru Kennedy (United Green Movement), Njiru Eston (Umoja na Maendeleo Party), Njiru Virginia Thaara (Kenya Moja Movement Party), and Nyaga Duncan (UDA).

The showdown in the by-elections in the two wards is expected to be between the ruling party’s side UDA candidates and the united opposition sides, both engaged in yet another supremacy battle.
IEBC is conducting the mini-polls in one parliamentary seat, Isiolo South constituency, and three county assembly wards, Evurore and Muminji wards in Embu County and West Kabras Ward in Kakamega County.
