Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has accused a group of Kiambu legislators of attempting to influence her constituents through bribery, intimidation, and diversion of development funds.

In a strongly worded statement on X posted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Wamuchomba said several tactics have been used to derail what she calls the one-term revolution in her constituency.

“They are trying everything possible to stop the one-term revolution in my constituency. They tried many things to stop me, like intimidation, diverted our development projects’ money like money for TTI, Ruiru Dam 2, refused to complete stalled roads and markets, chased me out of house committees, all this failed,” she said.

The MP claimed that her political opponents have now turned to the church, allegedly using some clergy to attack her character. “Now they are using clergy to attack me with untrue allegations. Watu wamekataa,” she stated.

Wamuchomba alleged that early-morning meetings have been taking place across Kiambu, where voters are being bribed with cash. “Today, early morning meetings were held by 7 Kiambu MPs to bribe my voters with 2K each. This is happening weekly!” she said.

She further claimed that the money was carried in bags and distributed with the help of local administrators and elders. “Those who attended last week’s 7 am meeting at Riagithu coffee factory and today’s 7 am at Marige College Hall alleged that the money was carried in ngunia bags. They are using chiefs and wazee wa mtaa to mobilise at night,” she noted.

Despite the alleged attempts, Wamuchomba said residents have refused to be swayed, adopting a new slogan in defiance. “Interestingly, the church and the villages have a new slogan Ndithikagwo na Muguongo,’ meaning you can’t bury a carcass with its valuables, you remove them first,” she shared.

She affirmed that her people have made up their minds and will not be bought. “You can’t kill us and bribe us, you can’t lie to us and bribe us, you can’t demolish our houses and bribe us, you can’t finish our businesses and bribe us, you can’t fire us from strategic positions and bribe us, you can’t grab our land and bribe us. We left Misri, huko haturudi. It’s one term!” She stated

Her statement sets the stage for heightened political tension in Kiambu, as she maintains her resolve to push through her reform agenda despite growing opposition.
