Wamae blasts politicians seeking presidency on former presidents’ track records
By Joel Masibo, October 26, 2025Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has blasted political leaders seeking the country’s presidency in the 2027 general election to be independent-minded and stop clinging to former presidents’ track records in their early campaigns.
Wamae has spoken moments after Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya said on Sunday, October 26, 2025, that he will make Kenya great again, just like former President Mwai Kibaki did in his ten years in office.
The late Mwai Kibaki took over the country’s presidency in 2002, where he led for ten years, leaving office in 2012, as many hailed him for Kenya’s economic stability and good development track record, with the Thika Super Highway being one of his memorable projects, leaving Salasya admiring his leadership style.

However, in a quick rejoinder, Wamae has instead asked those seeking to lead the country to be their own.
“What is this obsession of those seeking the presidency telling us, ‘I will do this like so-and-so’? Can’t you be your own man/woman?” She took to X on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
”Wantam and Tutam shenanigans are not manifestos, so when the time comes in May 2027, the official campaign time, ask them how and what solutions they have for Kenyans or what they have achieved against the promises made to Kenyans to warrant a new first term or a renewed second term,” she added.

Meanwhile, Peter Salasya is on a campaign trail trying to sell his vision, popularising his presidential bid ahead of the 2027 general election, where, if cleared, he will contest with the incumbent, President William Ruto, former Chief Justice David Maraga, and other candidates from the opposition for the nation’s presidency who have so far declared their interest for the top seat.
”The dream chaser, the only youthful presidential aspirant to have traversed the entire country in popularising his presidential bid, will be back stronger than ever before. Mazee, I’m the only option that will transform this country. I will make Kenya great again after Kibaki with policies that will make Kenya realise its potential,” Salasya took to X on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
