Roots Party presidential hopeful George Wajackoya has vowed to rule the country as a benevolent dictator if elected as the president.

Speaking to a local TV station on Friday, November 14, 2025, the 2022 presidential candidate backed the form of government as the surest path to making the country’s governance systems work with a measure of accountability.

The concept of a benevolent dictator entails a leader who uses their total authority efficiently to solve problems and create a just regime for the entire population.

Benevolent dictator

Wajackoyah also touted the merit-based system as a way to prevent individuals from stripping the country of its resources through corruption and pilferage.

“I will be a benevolent dictator because I have to regulate some of the things in this country. I will have to do things with an iron fist, especially as far as putting the people who have put the country where it is today at their rightful place,” he posited.

Wajackoya, while sharing his vision on how Kenya needs to deal with the menace of corruption and the mismanagement of public funds, threatened to close down foreign embassies as part of his fight to restore accountability in the public sector.

Fixing the corruption menace

“I will fix the corruption menace in the country. We need to recover the looted funds and money. Crime never rots. We will have a busy year in recouping what was stolen.

“It will not be business as usual; we shall also close down some embassies that have allowed our money to be stashed in their countries,” he stated.

In the education sector, he promised to abolish the CBC system, which he described as both a sham and a scam.

Opposition

He asserted that the system was adopted without a proper infrastructure being put in place and cognisance of the challenges facing the country.

During the interview, the Roots party leader also castigated the country’s opposition leader over their lack of a meaningful agenda for Kenyans

“For the first time, I agree with Ruto on that. They have nothing to offer. What they have to offer is Ruto’s name every day. They have not sat down and shown us what they have as an economic and political blueprint for the nation and have it for people to debate it,” he said.
