Voters want to nominate Jubilee Party candidates
A section of Ol Kalou town residents wants Jubilee to allow them pick party flagbearers for various seats in Nyandarua county through nomination.
Jubilee has been using consensus building to pick its candidates in the country and several of them received their nomination certificates at the party headquarters yesterday.
But speaking in Ol Kalou town yesterday, the residents said Jubilee should give priority to the people-driven nomination process since the winner will have full support of the voters.
Political excitement is high in the county as people wait to see who will emerge winner for the Jubilee ticket between Governor Francis Kimemia and former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki (pictured), who is also seeking the governor’s seat.
Another interesting contest is between Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho and his perennial rival George Wambugu aka Delight. The residents said picking candidates through consensus will deny them their democratic right of electing the people they want.
“The party risks picking people who will not respect us should it go the consensus way,” Cate Kihiki, a resident said.
