Uhuru owes you nothing, he paid your debt – Mishi Mboko tells Ruto
By George Brian, February 20, 2022
Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko on Sunday told off Deputy President William Ruto for castigating President Uhuru Kenyatta for supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during an Azimio la Umoja rally at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, Mishi said Ruto had no right to castigate the President since he (Uhuru) does not owe him any political debt.
The vocal MP claimed that President Uhuru cleared his debt with DP Ruto during their ten years reign after the Head of State equally government positions with him.
“Nataka kumuuliza yule jamaa wa Tanga Tanga (Ruto) alikaa kwa meza moja na namba moja wa Kenya (President Uhuru) kufanya negotiations kile kipindi ya kupiga kura iliokwisha akapewa sunti, sasa venye kibao kishakweisha ikaingia kwa Raila unasema uko na deni, ni deni gani hio?” Mishi said.
(When the current government was being formed, DP Ruto and President Uhuru agreed to form a government and equally share state positions. Now that their agreement is coming to an end and the President is now supporting Raila, he (Ruto) is now claiming that the President owes him a debt, which debt is that?)
According to the lawmaker, at the moment, the only person the president and the country owe a political debt is Raila. She said that the former Prime Minister deserves to ascend to the country’s top leadership due to the political sacrifices he and his family have made for the country since independence.
Mishi assured the ODM boss that she and other leaders from the region will ensure the Coastal region vote for him in the coming elections to ensure his victory.
She urged the region to vote for Raila noting that the promises he has given them will come to pass unlike those made by Ruto which she claimed were made just to entice the public.
“Yule mtu wa Tanga Tanga mambo yake ni mapromise na kutupiga PR lakini Baba anatoa riwaza yake ino, anatoa ten points ya kusema nitawafanyia nini si kama wale wanakuja hapa na Bottom Up, Bottom Down. Baba naye amesema ana agenda,” she said.
(Raila has an agenda for this country, he has come up with ten-point agenda unlike our competitors who only come here to sing for us the Bottom-Up economic models)
