UDA announces repeat elections in Lang’ata, Embakasi East

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has declared repeat elections in Lang’ata and Embakasi East Constituencies.

In a notice on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the UDA National Elections Board (NEB) led by Anthony Mwaura announced that only eligible delegates will participate in the polls.

“The National Election Board of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) hereby issues a notice of repeat election to all eligible delegates in the aforementioned Constituencies,” a notice issued by UDA read in part.

According to the notice, the elections board the repeat polls in Lang’ata Constituency will be of the Member Position only.

In Embakasi East, UDA notified its members that the repeat polls will be of the Treasurer’s position.

“This election is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Hustler Center at 9:00 am,” Mwaura indicated.

Eligible voters

According to UDA, elected ward officials from the ward election conducted on May 18, 2024 and repeat ward elections conducted on May 25, 2024 will be eligible to take part in the exercise.

Nominated and Elected Members of the National Assembly, will also be allowed to participate in the UDA repeat polls in Lang’ata and Embakasi East Constituencies.


“All eligible delegates are hereby invited to participate in this electoral process,” Mwaura pleaded with UDA members.

The announcement of repeat elections come at a time when UDA has been rocked with internal wrangles. Secretary General Cleophas Malala and Mwaura clashed over the holding of the grassroot polls.

Malala insisted that the polls had been postponed however Mwaura dismissed his statement arguing that the grassroots elections would go on as planned.

Confirmation of county grassroot polls

To further push forward with the elections plan, the ruling party notified its members that it will soon issue a notice of the date and venue of the scheduled county elections across the respective counties.

“All elected Constituency Delegates in the phase one of the grassroots elections are notified that the National Elections Board (NEB) will soon issue notice of the date and venue of the scheduled County Elections across the respective Counties,” UDA’s notice issued on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, stated.
