UDA still the most popular party in Kenya – TIFA polls
Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has maintained its popularity as the country gears towards the August polls.
According to a new poll by Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA) research firm, UDA is the most popular political party in Kenya with 41 per cent.
Notably, in the last poll on July 11, 2022, UDA was still leading with 33 per cent.
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential aspirant Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) came second with 34 per cent in the popularity rating.
Jubilee Party was rated third most popular party with a 7 per cent rating while Wiper and George Wajackoyah’s Roots Party came at 4th and 5th position with 3 per cent and 2 per cent rating respectively.
The number of the undecided and those who support no coalition stood at 8 per cent.
On the other hand, the new poll showed that Raila has remained the most preferred presidential candidate with 46.7 per cent.
Ruto follows closely with 44.4 per cent while Roots Party’s Wajackoyah comes in third place with 1.8 per cent.
Waihiga Mwaure of Agano party is far behind with 0.1 per cent.
The survey conducted between July 21 to July 26 where 2,056 respondents were across 9 regions across the country.
The regions include Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern , Nyanza, South Rift and Western.
