UDA intensifies campaigns in West Kabras ahead of high-stakes by-election
By Kiprono Keileb, February 10, 2026The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has stepped up political mobilisation in West Kabras Ward as parties intensify efforts to win the upcoming by-election and secure local support.
In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the ruling party outlined its activities in the area, the team dispatched, and why it believes the vote matters for residents ahead of polling day on February 26, 2026.
The party described recent engagement with residents as successful and said feedback from the ground showed strong backing for continued development and leadership direction in the ward.

“Following a successful public engagement in Mayuge, the message from West Kabras voters is clear: progress must continue,” the party’s statement reads.
UDA said local leaders joined residents to campaign and rally support behind its candidate, Elphas Shalakha, pointing to unity among organisers and community members pushing for a single political direction.
“Led by Malava Member of Parliament David Ndakwa, leaders and locals have come together to drum support for Elphas Shalakha as the best choice to lead the ward,” the party’s statment reads.
The party linked the upcoming vote to broader expectations among residents, framing it as a decision about unity, development priorities, and the type of leadership the community wants moving forward.
“By voting for the UDA candidate on February 26, the people of West Kabras are choosing a path of unity and transformative leadership,” the statement reads.

UDA also highlighted the involvement of national and regional political figures like Farouk, who joined the campaign trail and urged residents to take part in the by-election in large numbers.
“Alongside other leaders, Farouk Kibet rallied residents to turn up in large numbers to make their votes count,” the statement reads.
The by-election has drawn attention from political players across the region, with campaigns focusing on service delivery, representation, and local development needs. Residents are expected to elect a ward representative who will speak on their behalf at the county levelon February 26, 2026.
As campaigns continue, parties are working to convince voters on who can best address everyday challenges, including infrastructure, economic opportunities, and access to services. The February 26 vote is expected to test grassroots mobilisation and party influence in the area.
