United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Veronica Maina has downplayed of claims of brewing storm in the party after a section of members disagreed over mini polls, terming it as friendly fire.

The SG noted that the party was democratic adding that they have incorporated all views to containable measures as provided in the constitution.

She noted that being an attractive party, people are proned to have disputes stating that all that can be handled in a friendly manner.

“All these reports that there is an infighting within the party is untrue. We are working on building a strong and national vehicle for next year’s polls,” said Maina.

Speaking in Nakuru after meeting over 400 registered aspirants from Kericho, Bomet, Baringo, Narok and Nyandarua she affirmed that the party was still intact and united.

She said the meetings that started a week ago are platforms used to explain to the aspirants the ideologies, the manifesto and the party’s constitution.

Maina, further added that aspirants have been registering in large numbers due to the popularity of the party across the country.

“We have aspirants for all the elective seats. UDA is the future and it stands for true transformation policies,” she said.

On his part, UDA Subukia aspirant Simon Ngugi lauded the party leadership model which focuses on uplifting the locals saying it was a move in the right direction.

He added that the country’s politics needs to shift from the top-bottom approach to a bottom-up viewpoint to ensure everyone benefits.

“People need to feel like they are part of the government and that means involving them in all that they do and that’s why I have joined UDA,” said Ngugi.

Echoing the same sentiments, Baringo Women Rep aspirant Susan Chesina said they are gearing up for an overwhelming win next year.

She called on Kenyans willing to change the governance of the country to a progressive society to join the party.
