UDA: By-election results show Ruto is still popular among Kenyans
By Kiprono Keileb, November 28, 2025The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has moved to celebrate its strong performance in the just-concluded by-elections, describing the outcome as clear evidence that President William Ruto still commands broad support across the country.
In a statement on Friday, November 28, 2025, UDA said that the by-election results reflected a growing level of trust in its leadership and agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election. According to the statement, the party secured 12 of the 21 seats where it fielded candidates.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party’s victory in 12 seats during the just-concluded by-elections is a clear indication that President William Ruto remains popular among Kenyans,” Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar stated.
UDA party noted that its success stretched across different regions and levels of contest. The party pointed out that Kiprono Chemitei won the Baringo Senate seat, while Leonard Wamuthende, David Ndakwa, and Ahmed Hassan captured the parliamentary seats.
“UDA clinched the Baringo Senate seat through Kiprono Chemitei, as well as the Mbeere North, Malava, and Banisa parliamentary seats through Leo Wamuthende, David Ndakwa, and Ahmed Hassan, respectively,” the statement reads
The party also highlighted areas where its candidates ran unopposed, describing those victories as a demonstration of strong grassroots presence.
“The party further asserted its dominance with Philip Kipruto (Metkei–Elgeyo Marakwet) and Reuben Kigen (Tembelio–Uasin Gishu), who were elected unopposed,” the statement reads
UDA’s other wins included Amos Mpusia in Purko–Kajiado, Vincent Ruto in Chemundu–Nandi, among others.
“Other victories included Amos Mpusia (Purko–Kajiado), Vincent Ruto (Chemundu-Nandi), John Namesek (Lake Zone–Turkana), and Cosmas Napeikar (Nanaam–Turkana), who all won against their rivals,” the statement reads
UDA said the spread of wins across several counties reflects the confidence many Kenyans have in the ruling party.
Speaking while releasing the statement, the party Secretary General Hassan Omar said that the results were a signal of President Ruto’s strong national support.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party’s victory in 12 seats during the just-concluded by-elections is a clear indication that President William Ruto remains popular among Kenyans,” he stated.
Dismisses the opposition
Omar dismissed criticism from the United Opposition and online commentators, saying the results speak for themselves in showing the party’s growing influence.
Omar also celebrated the election of Isabella Leshimpiro in Angata Nyanyokie–Samburu and Sophia Maro in Chewani–Tana River.
“Omar also congratulated Isabella Leshimpiro (Angata Nyanyokie– Samburu) and Sophia Maro (Chewani– Tana River), dedicating their victories to women across the country,” the statement reads
