Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna has announced that the Azimio la Umoja -One Kenya coalition will hold subsequent anti-government protests for three days from next week.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Sifuna noted that the opposition will hold subsequent demonstrations starting Monday to Wednesday.

This, according to him, will be a wake-up call for President William Ruto to repeal the Finance Act which was assented to law by President William Ruto on June 26, 2023.

“From next week, three days straight of maandamano until William Ruto understands that Kenyans are suffering and repeals this law the same way that he imposed it upon them,” he stated.

Sifuna also chided the government for ‘gross misconduct’ during the Wednesday demonstrations held across different parts of the country.

He noted that the current regime was issuing death sentences to innocent youths picketing peacefully denying them an opportunity to be heard by the government.

“This regime is dishing out death sentences on the streets without giving these young people the opportunity to be heard,” he stated.

Further, the first-term senator noted that the opposition will be on the upfront to voice out the ill of the government adding that they will not be intimidated.

“There is nothing they can scare us with, if it is arrests we are ready to be arrested,” he added.
