Sifuna takes Linda Mwananchi’s gospel to Makueni as Wiper leaders join
By Mabonga Makhanu, March 8, 2026Linda Mwananchi, team leader and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, has been welcomed by a section of Wiper leaders in Makueni for a church service.
The Nairobi senator, together with his Linda Mwananchi counterparts such as Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Bomachoge Borabu MP Obadiah Barongo and others, was welcomed by the host, Kaiti Constituency MP Joshua Kimilu, for the church service, which will culminate in a fundraiser and a roadside rally at Mukuyuni Market.

Mavoko MP Patrick Makau was also present during the arrival of the Sifuna team.
According to the host MP Joshua Kimilu, other Wiper leaders from the region such as Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, Kathiani lawmaker Robert Mbui and other leaders are also expected to join the Sifuna-led team for the event.
The Wiper party leaders attending the Linda Mwanachi rally, which is predominantly made up of ODM rebels, is not by coincidence, as this also comes at a time when Sifuna has shown a willingness to partner with the United Opposition team, of which the Wiper party is an integral member.
Sifuna’s opposition merger
Speaking in a recent television interview about why Linda Mwananchi’s next political move could be the United Opposition, Sifuna stated that for President William Ruto to be defeated in next year’s election, there must be an overwhelming repudiation from Kenyans.

He emphasised that this can only be achieved if all like-minded individuals approach the election as a united front.
He committed to the fact that he will not be part of any vote-splitting plan and assured Kenyans that he will not let them down in their quest for change.
“If you speak to ordinary Kenyans, you know that when we need an overwhelming repudiation of William Ruto and everything that he stands for, it has to be overwhelming. We must beat William Ruto by at least 5 million votes,” Sifuna said.
“So for you to achieve that overwhelming repudiation, there is a common understanding amongst the population that we must approach this election as a unit,” Sifuna stated.

Linda Mwananchi’s break
This also comes at a time when Edwin Sifuna took a brief pause from his Linda Mwananchi activities until the end of the holy month of Ramadan; it is when they will resume with a maiden rally in Mombasa before proceeding to other places such as Luo Nyanza.
