Sifuna blasts Ruto over attack on Kalonzo in Singapore dream
By Joel Masibo, December 19, 2025Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has fired back at President William Ruto after the Head of State took a swipe at the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, on infrastructural development failure during his 40 years in government.
Speaking during the handover of the Affordable Housing units in Mukuru Kwa Njenga estate on Thursday, December 18, 2025, Ruto revived his attack on the former Vice President for lacking vision for the country, linking him to the poor state of the roads and infrastructure in his Kitui village despite serving in different state positions for decades.
Ruto insinuated that if the United Opposition chief could not develop his own town, he cannot take Kenya to the next level amid the renewed Singapore dream, where the government is working around the clock to drag the country from third-world to first-world class through infrastructural development.

Ruto’s salvo
”Akajaribu kujitetea. Bado nangojea majibu, hajanijibu. Barabara ya kuenda kwako umeshindwa, ya kuenda Ethiopia ndio utapanga?” Ruto posed.
In defence of Kalonzo Musyoka, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General said it is not a must for leaders to start by developing their hometowns, adding that it is not a national priority over other development projects.
Sifuna further renewed his campaign against the re-election bid of President Ruto over what he termed as a leader who puts himself before others.

Sifuna fires back at Ruto
”Exactly the mentality that will get us to Singapore. Ati, when you get power, you start with yourself. Do I want the road to my village tarmacked? Yes. Is it a national priority to be elevated over, say, Bomas-Kiserian? No. In 2027, get rid of these dealers who think starting with themselves is the measure of leadership.” Edwin Sifuna took to X on Friday, December 19, 2025.
On the Singapore dream, the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU–Kenya) has supported the establishment of the National Infrastructure Fund (NIF) meant to raise Ksh5 trillion in a bid to develop the country, terming it a long-overdue and necessary step toward transforming Kenya into a modern, competitive, and dignified society.
In a statement issued by Secretary-General Francis Atwoli on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, COTU stated that Kenya has for decades postponed the decisive structural reforms required to close persistent infrastructure gaps that continue to undermine economic growth, job creation, and social development.
