Sifuna and Babu Owino visit home of supporter killed in Kitengela
By Mabonga Makhanu, February 23, 2026Edwin Sifuna, the Nairobi Senator, and Babu Owino, the Embakasi East MP, have visited the family of Vincent Ayoma, who was shot dead during their rally in Kitengela.
While in Kitengela, Senator Sifuna, on Monday, February 23, 2026, met with the bereaved family and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their kin, who was gunned down in connection with the rally.
He revealed that his office had already communicated with the widow of the 28-year-old and assured the family that he would personally make time to visit their home to offer his condolences.

Sifuna stated that beyond conveying his sympathies, his visit was also meant to gather more details about the circumstances that led to Vincent’s death. According to information he had received, Vincent was shot after the meeting while heading home from work.
The Senator also relayed condolences from other Linda Mwananchi leaders and urged the family to accept any support that the team would be able to offer.
Babu delivering his condolences
On his part, Babu Owino expressed disappointment over the circumstances surrounding Vincent’s death, stating that the family had confirmed that he was not part of the rally but was merely heading home after work when he was gunned down.
“If Vincent came from the job, and he was not even part of this, right, he came from the job, from his workplace. That clearly shows you that there was malice, because the police officers are bloodthirsty.”
The Embakasi East MP conveyed his deep sorrow to the widow, acknowledging the heavy burden she now faces as she continues with life following the sudden loss of her husband.
Babu Owino further vowed to move to court to petition the government and seek compensation for Vincent’s family. According to him, the young man’s death resulted from government action, and therefore, the family deserves justice and redress
“We will petition the government to seek compensation, because this debt is coming from the government we also got from”
Vincent’s family
The family, led by Vincent’s elder brother, appealed to the two leaders to help them pursue justice and provide financial assistance to ensure Vincent receives a decent burial. They further requested support for his widow, who is raising their two-year-old child and currently has no stable source of income.

Vincent’s wife, while speaking during the meeting, also appealed to the two leaders for financial support to help her raise their young daughter. She expressed concern over the challenges she now faces as a single parent without a stable source of income.
Vincent is set to be ferried to Kisumu, where he will be laid to rest at his rural home in the Airport area.
Covering funeral expenses
This comes a day after Babu Owino confirmed that the Sifuna-led Linda Mwanachi team will be covering the funeral expenses of Vincent.
While speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the outspoken lawmaker said that the team had already reached out to the family of their supporter, who had just turned up to witness the rally only to be met with a bullet, and that they would be stepping in to cover the costs of giving the young man his last respects.
