Wiper party leaders have remained adamant about joining the current government led by President William Ruto. Ruto’s camp has been advancing overtures at the Wiper’s party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the opposition for a position in government.

While responding to the recent calls from president Ruto and his camp to Kalonzo to join the government, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua said that the Azimio principal will not join the Kenya Kwanza side now or later.

Speaking on Saturday, when he attended a funeral in Mboru area near Mwingi town in Kitui county, Senator Wambua told President Ruto that they expect him to join Kalonzo’s government after he wins the 2027 general election.

“Let me answer president Ruto for him to calm down, our leader Kalonzo Musyoka is not going to join him now. It is him who will have to support Kalonzo after we defeat him in the 2027 general election,” he said

President William Ruto has been wooing the Kalonzo to join his team since May, way before the August general election.

Last Sunday when he visited Kitui county and worshiped at AIC Kitui Township, the Head of State told residents that he is ready to work with the Kamba kingpin.

However, he said that he has tried even to offer Kalonzo a job in his government but he declined it and expressed his desire of being on the opposition side.

” During my campaigns, I had promised you that if God enables me to win and form the government, I will look for Kalonzo so that we work together. I did meet with him but he declined my job offer stating that he wants to try the opposition side,” he said.

Speaking at the same venue last Sunday Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said that they don’t have any problem with Kalonzo.

“We have no issue with the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka only that we don’t understand him at all,” DP Gachagua said.

Gachagua added that they looked for Kalonzo but he went back to Azimio where he was subjected to a humiliating interview for the deputy president position.
