‘Never abuse anyone because of politicians’- Senator Methu warns amid Gachagua-Ruto allies war

By , June 12, 2024

Nyandarua County Senator Methu Muhia has cautioned Kenyans against abusing each other over a politician.

Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Methu stated that politicians are never enemies.

“I am a fairly young politician with not so much experience, but what I have quickly learnt for the time I have been in active politics, never abuse anyone because of a politician. Politicians are never enemies,” the lawmaker stated.

According to Senator Methu, lawmakers usually exchange deeply on the floor of the houses of parliament but meet later to laugh and feast together.

“Politicians have no deep personal differences. Politics actually looks like a movie, shot with characters on masks. To put this in context, those legislators you see deeply exchange on the floor of the houses of Parliament, laugh heartily at the bunge Cafeteria,” Methu said.

Methu on supporting politicians

The lawmaker called on Kenyans to support their preferred politicians carefully, warning that they should never try to inherit political leaders’ enemies.

“Support your person, with all your heart and might, but don’t inherit their enemies because once their interests converge, you will have to cry while laughing,” he said.

Methu’s remarks come amid a heated political exchange that is being witnessed between President William Ruto’s allies and those allied to his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

UDA cracks

The heated exchange that is seemingly creating a rift within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) started when DP Gachagua kicked off his push for the one man, one vote, one shilling sharing formula.

President Ruto’s allies having been telling off the DP in public over his push, terming it as a move to divide Kenya on ethnic foundations.

The latest attack against Gachagua by a Ruto ally was on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, when Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah trashed the display by Gachagua, who caught many by surprise after opting to board a Kenya Airways commercial flight to Mombasa.

Ichung’wah argued that Gachagua was courting sympathy from Kenyans in the face of a supposed tiff between him and President Ruto.

“Neither President William Ruto nor the Government of Kenya or Members of Parliament will succumb to blackmail. No amount of sympathy-seeking photos, vernacular station campaigns, or social media blogging troops will hand over billions to satisfy anyone’s insatiable greed for power and money,” Ichung’wah reacted via his X account.

Gachagua has also had a standoff with Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi when he told off the lawmaker and accused him of meddling into other constituencies’ affairs.
