Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has come out condemning the attacks on Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while putting a blame on Police Officers conduct.

Taking to his official X account on Monday, January 26, 2026, Salasya called on netizens to choose democracy over violence and misuse of police officers.

“I chose a peaceful country over 1000 promises of making kenya heaven with new airports, new roads and anything good .we must never allow kenya go the Uganda way. Let us chose democracy over violence and misuse of police officers and instead use the law to correct a mistake,” Salasya said.

He went on warning the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to deal with the attacks while threatening to rally a disbandment of the Authority by the National Assembly.

“I condemn this, and necessary action from IPOA must be felt, or we disband this independent board that is supposed to look at the conduct of police officers and firearms. This is not Uganda, where firearms are handled anyhow,” Salasya added.

“As the parliament, we open up next week, we must discuss the conduct of rogue police officers who are used politically. I condemn the attacks on H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH,” he added.

Sudi accuses Gachagua of staging chaos

Mumias MP’s remarks come just moments after Kapseret Member of Parliament accused the Former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, of staging the Sunday chaos.

On his part, Oscar Sudi apologised to congregants and clergy of Witima ACK Church in Othaya, Nyeri County, following the chaotic incident that disrupted a church service attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking in a video message shared via his official Facebook page on Monday, January 26, 2026, Sudi accused Gachagua and his allies of deliberately turning the church into a political theatre, claiming that they had staged the chaos.

Sudi argued that the church had thought it had invited worshippers and guests in good faith, only for events to unfold in an unexpected and distressing manner.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker placed blame squarely on Gachagua and his allies, accusing them of deliberately introducing political drama into a sacred space in order to attract sympathy.
