Saitabao Kanchory dares Oburu Odinga to quit ODM and join UDA

Lawyer and political strategist Saitabao Kanchory has issued a sharp exchange with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after he challenged the Party leader, Oburu Odinga and allies over their political stand and loyalty to the party’s direction.

In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Kanchory accused leaders he associates with Oburu of pushing interests he believes conflict with ODM’s founding ideals and current political position.

Kanchory questioned why leaders he links to the broad-based arrangement continue to remain in ODM while openly backing positions aligned with their long-time political rivals, including the United Democratic Alliance party (UDA).

“Since the Obure-led Affordable ODM Limited believes so much in Kasongo, why not just join UDA and leave ODM to those who believe in the founding principles and values of the party. Why do they want to have their bread and eat it? Let them go where their heart is and eat in peace,” part of Saitabao Kanchory’s statement reads.

He then escalated his remarks with a controversial reflection on the late former prime Minister, who was also the ODM party leader, Raila Odinga’s death, claiming it carried a deeper political and spiritual meaning.

“I am no prophit but I can tell you one thing for certain. Raila’s death, whether it came by the hand of God or man, was the surest sign that heaven did not approve of the blood-based regime. More signs will soon follow,” Saitabao said in a statement.

Senator Onyonka: Those who want to join UDA should exit ODM

Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka had also called on party members who are leading the talks to have a pact between the ODM and the UDA to consider exiting the ODM and be free to join the government-led side.

The senator said that if the members of the ODM allied to President Ruto’s side are so much into supporting his reelection bid should consider joining his UDA party and let those who want to remain with the ODM party remain to steer the party’s agenda.
