Ruto’s running mate will come from Mt Kenya, Isaac Mwaura says after UDA, ANC partnership
Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura on Monday, January 24 said that a leader from the Mount Kenya region will be William Ruto’s running mate in the August 2022 polls.
Dismissing claims that Ruto had picked Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi as his running mate after they agreed to work together, Mwaura revealed that their plans were beyond a President and a running mate.
On Sunday, January 23, Mudavadi made it clear that he will be working with Ruto who is the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader and that no one will dictate his political direction.
Both Mudavadi and Ruto have declared to run for the presidency in the August 2022 polls saying their main agenda is healing the economy.
Appearing on a local TV station, Mwaura who is eyeing the Ruiru parliamentary seat said that only a leader from Mount Kenya region would be suitable to take the DP’s position.
“UDA and ANC have decided to work together ahead of the elections, but there can only be one presidential candidate. I want to assure the people of Mount Kenya that the Deputy President must come from our region,” he said.
“This alliance is going to be a game-changer and the Mount Kenya region should know their stakes are high in this new arrangement,” Mwaura added.
