A section of leaders allied to President William Ruto have come out to strongly condemn former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his sustained criticism of the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking during an event hosted by Kajiado Woman Representative Leah Sankaire at Kajiado TTI, the leaders led by Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP), who is also the National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah, asked the area locals to dismiss Gachagua’s opposition politics.

They went on to accuse him of spreading lies against the Kenya Kwanza administration, without presenting real solutions, in an attempt to stain the state’s reputation, and turn the locals against the government.

Ichung’wah cautioned the area locals against the former DP encouraging them to hold leaders accountable whenever they visit by asking how they would benefit from their leadership.

Wakisema ya Ruto, yeye si agenda ya mwananchi wa Kajiado, mtu akija kupiga siasa Kajiado, aje akutajie mambo ya maendeleo ya mwananchi ambayo ni agenda yake na manifesto yake,” he said.

Ichung’wah’s sentiments were echoed by Kajiado Central MP Memuri Kanchory who reiterated that the locals should take precaution over who they choose as their leaders.

“Mnapenda wanasisas wakiwachekesha, lakini nyinyi ndio mnachagua wale watu wanapenda kuwadhalimu,” he said.

Gachagua woos Kajiado

Gachagua had wooed Kajiado with several goodies assuring them that they will be at the forefront of his political agenda once his soon-to-be-launched party begins allocating leadership positions across the country.

Addressing the residents in Kiserian Town on Thursday,  March 27, 2025, Gachagua appreciated the county for their support towards him.

He also announced that the county will will secure the lion’s share of seats within the party, including the coveted position of national chairman—a gesture he described as a token of appreciation for their loyalty.

“Now, we are forming our own political party, and this party will be led by the people of Kajiado. In our new party, elections will be held in May, and the national chairman of our new party will come from Kajiado,” he said.

“And as for Mt Kenya, we will field candidates for the presidency, governor, senator, MP, women representative, and MCA—are you ready? I want to tell you here in Kiserian and this entire Kajiado,” he added.
