President William Ruto has now revealed that he managed to win back the Gen Zs after the deadly protests in June 2025.

Ruto, who was speaking to one of the international TV stations on Sunday, November 9, 2025, said that the same young people who had earlier opposed him later came to realise his genuine efforts to change the country.

He said the youth discovered that his promises were not empty words but commitments he had been fulfilling since taking office.

Youth’s promises fulfilled

“They have since discovered that every commitment I made, including how to empower the young people from education to creating jobs, to make sure we have food, to make sure there is health, I have kept my promises,” Ruto said.

He added that the debate about whether he has delivered on his pledges is now settled.

“In the entire country today, the debate is not whether President William Ruto has delivered; that debate is closed,” he said.

Ruto said his administration had focused on creating opportunities for the youth through education reforms, digital job programs, and agricultural projects aimed at securing the country’s food supply.

Ruto downplays latest opinion polls

The President also dismissed recent polls showing that 62 per cent of Kenyans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.

He said opinion polls have often been misleading and do not reflect the true situation on the ground.

“I will tell you, in the last election, the poll showed that I would never win an election, which I did,” Ruto said.

“There is a world of difference between what you see and what you get,” he added.

Ruto maintained that his government remains on track to fulfil its promises, insisting that young people now understand and support his vision for the nation.

He said his administration will continue to invest in programs that directly benefit the youth, noting that Kenya’s progress depends on empowering its young generation.
