Ruto kicks off five-day tour of Mt Kenya region
Deputy President William Ruto and his running-mate Rigathi Gachagua are today expected to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential campaigns to the Mt Kenya region on a five-day drive.
They will chair a series of economic forums, whose outcomes will be captured in the Alliance’s manifesto. Ruto goes back to the region in an attempt to mollify disquiet linked to his choice.
He also hopes to counter inroads made by their rival, Azimio-One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga who has also picked a resident, Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, as his running mate.
Raila’s choice of Karua is perceived as an attempt to have a better bite of the region’s votes.
Kenya Kwanza team is also expected to explain in detail the plans, including economic benefits, for the vast region if the coalition forms the next government.
