Ruto donates Ksh1M to help ODM youths travel to Mombasa for anniversary fete
By Kiprono Keileb, November 13, 2025Lang’ata Member of Parliament Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has revealed that President William Ruto donated Ksh1 million to support ODM youths travelling to Mombasa for the party’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Speaking to supporters on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Jalang’o said the President called him personally after hearing about the youth’s appeal for support.
“Tulipokuwa hapa, mliskia vile vijana wamelia, wamesema wanataka kuenda Mombasa na mliona nikitoka na simu hapa nje, ni Rais William Samoei Ruto alikuwa ananipiga. Rais manipatia ksh 1 million nipatie vijana waende Mombasa,” Jalang’o said.
The MP’s revelation brought about mixed reactions some praising the gesture as a sign of unity beyond political lines, while others questioned the unusual link between the ruling UDA leader and the opposition party’s event.

The donation comes as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) finalises its plans for the highly anticipated anniversary celebrations set to take place in Mombasa this weekend.
According to the party, the three-day event will run from Friday, November 14, 2025, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, bringing together delegates, youth leaders, women representatives, and grassroots organisers from across the country.

ODM Preparedness
The discussions on the preparations were held on X Spaces on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, hosted by National Chairperson Gladys Wanga. The session featured Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir, Senator Crystal Asige, and youth leader Kasmuel McOure, among others.
The party said the 20th anniversary marks a significant milestone in ODM’s journey, highlighting its commitment to democracy, inclusion, and good governance.
The event will also celebrate the legacy of ODM leader Raila Odinga, with the party pledging to ensure inclusivity across all groups.

James Orengo had earlier stated that, as it marks 20 years, it remains true to the mission, a lasting legacy to the fallen leader, Raila Amolo Odinga. “As we mark 20 years, we remain true to our mission, a lasting legacy to our fallen leader, Raila Amolo Odinga,” the statement read
With the celebrations set to attract both political allies and ordinary supporters, Mombasa is expected to turn orange this weekend as ODM marks two decades of shaping Kenya’s political landscape.
