President William Ruto has challenged the country’s opposition leaders, urging them to desist from empty rhetoric and reveal their plans for the nation.

Speaking in Molo Country on Monday, October 27, 2025, Ruto stated that the county had lagged because of leaders focusing on meaningless politicking rather than important developmental projects.

He hit out at his critics, stating that they should come out with their plans for the country and not only focus on faulting his regime.

“We want those criticising the government to tell us their plans. They should stop going round with empty words criticising our plans, yet they are not saying what their plan for the country is,” he added.

The President affirmed that the nation is in need of visionary leaders who can help its path of prosperity and growth.

“To change and transform this nation, we need visionary leaders and those with good plans. Kenya has lagged because most of our leaders are useless. They prefer engaging in retrogressive politics and non-issues such as Kasongo and wantam, “he added.

He highlighted his bravery and commitment as key virtues needed to see the country on the path of progress.

“This is a brave man. He has really helped me in Parliament to facilitate important projects of the government. I must commend you, the people of Molo, for giving me such a brave young warrior.

The president noted that Kuria’s commitment to a cause had enabled the government to achieve key projects despite huge backlash from the public.

Finance Bill 2024

The Kuria-led committee has been at centre of controversial and unpopular laws and amendments in the 13th parliament, including the Finance Bill 2024, a legislation that proposed major tax hikes on critical commodities, leading to massive youth-led protests in 2024.
