Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku, has dismissed claims of bribing voters ahead of the upcoming November 11, 2025.

Speaking on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the CS termed the actions by the government to dish out money as justified.

“The money we brought here is money from the government of Kenya, led by William Ruto. It does not belong to an individual,” he stated.

Ruku, who denied owning any significant sums of cash, stated that it has been his tradition to share the little he has with the people as their leader, contrasting himself with former Senator Lenny Kivuti.

Generous heart

“We have remained united in Mbeere North since I became a member of parliament, and I have ensured that whatever little I get, we share among ourselves. That has been our tradition out of a clean heart and generosity. But he is a greedy person who thinks money can buy people. He is intent on seeing others begging him,” said.

Reacting to allegations made by the former Senator on the government’s developmental record, the CS castigated the politician for attempting to deny the regions the right to benefit from the development projects initiated by the government.

“He said while at Kanyuombora that no development has been undertaken in Mbeere North, when there is a tarmac road starting right at his doorstep. Where does one get the audacity to say that?”He posed.

Stop the propaganda

On the upcoming by-elections, the CS posited that the residents had already made up their minds, He expressed confidence they would elect a pro-government MP to succeed him and continue his legacy.

“Let the people stop propaganda. The people of Mbeere North have decided they will stay in the Kenya Kwanza government, and the person they will elect in November is none other than Leonard Muthende as their MP,” he added.

The Mbeere North seat fell vacant following Ruku’s resignation, after he was appointed to the Cabinet Secretary position.

Newton Karish of the Democratic Party and Muthende of UDA are expected to battle out for the seat, in what pundits predict will be a fierce contest between the opposition and a government-backed candidate.
