Roseline Alionya: ODM on a mission to ensure DCP gets zero seats in Nairobi

By , July 6, 2026

Orange Democratic Movement-leaning activist Roseline Alionya says party supporters are organising to ring-fence Nairobi from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Alionya, using X on Monday, July 6, 2026, said the political plan was to ensure DCP, whose leader, Gachagua, failed to secure any elective seat in the capital.

She made the remarks after attending a women’s empowerment programme in Kileleshwa Ward, Dagoretti North Constituency, alongside leaders led by Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary James Opiyo Wandayi.

Proposed voting pattern

Alionya said women attending the programme had outlined their preferred candidates for the 2027 election.

For Kileleshwa MCA, she named Robert Alai Onyango, the ward’s current representative. For Dagoretti North MP, she backed Beatrice Kadeveresia Elachi.

She also listed Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Muthoni Passaris and Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor Kodhe, popularly known as Jalang’o, as preferred candidates for Woman Representative and senator, respectively.

For governor, Alionya said the women preferred an ODM candidate, although she did not identify one by name. At the presidential level, she indicated support for President William Ruto.

“The women of Kileleshwa Ward shared with me their 2027 voting pattern as follows: MCA = Alai TUTAM, MP = Mama Dago Hon Elachi TUTAM, WR = Mama Kanairo Hon Passaris 3TAM, SENATOR = Jalas NEWTAM, GOVERNOR = ODM candidate, not Patel, PRESIDENT = Auncle William LONG-TERM,” she wrote.

ODM retains control

However, Alionya said the proposed voting pattern could change depending on the direction ODM gives its supporters before the election.

“Unless Chama Kubwa advises them otherwise before 2027,” she stated.

She then directly linked the mobilisation to efforts aimed at blocking Gachagua’s party from gaining ground in Nairobi.

“Bwana Raila Odinga’s orphans wamejipanga. They are on a mission to ensure that Wamunyoro gets zero seats in Nairobi,” Alionya wrote.

Her remarks represent her assessment of the Kileleshwa meeting and not an officially announced ODM nomination list or formal party directive.
