Raila’s absence from Ruto’s inauguration is least of our worries- Gachagua

Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua now says Raila’s absence from President-elect William Ruto’s inauguration is the least of their concern.

Speaking to the media, Gachagua stated that his team had no time for ‘side shows’. He added that they were too busy focusing on how to revive the country’s economy.

“Raila is not one of our concerns. We have a country to run and an economy to improve. Where do we get time to bother about him? He is not our priority and we don’t want to get involved in side shows,” he stated.

“The function will go on whether he [Raila] is there or not he is the least of our worries. Kasarani Stadium was full by 5 am,”

At the same time, the former Mathira Member of Parliament (MP) lauded the incoming president for being a remarkable leader who listens to the advice given to him by his juniors.

While expressing optimism about their working relationship, Gachagua vowed that the issues that emerged between Ruto and outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta would not be witnessed between him and his boss Ruto.

“The president-elect takes advice with humility. He also agrees to be led by juniors. He respects people working under him and sometimes when he makes a decision and MPs advise him otherwise, he listens and takes it in,” he added.
