Raila, Kalonzo jet out to DRC
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya party presidential candidate Raila Odinga has reportedly jetted out of the country in the company of his Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Raila and Kalonzo, who is his Chief Cabinet Secretary-designate should he ascend to power, left Kenya for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
It has not been established whether ODM leader Raila Odinga paid DRC a visit in his capacity as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure or if he is visiting the Felix Tshisekedi-led nation for other reasons.
It is also unclear whether Kalonzo, who serves as Kenya’s special peace envoy to South Sudan, is in the East African country in his diplomatic capacity or for other reasons.
The duo’s departure follows hard on the heels of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s talks with Uganda’s Special Envoy and President Museveni’s son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The bilateral and multilateral talks between President Uhuru and General Muhoozi are reported to have been centred on bolstering security in the conflict-ridden Eastern parts of DRC, where Ugandan troops are camping in an attempt to subdue Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
