Raila dares ODM to go for clean sweep in 2027 elections

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Sunday, December 1, 202,4 rallied behind his party to go for a clean sweep in the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking in Vihiga County where he attended the thanksgiving of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi, Raila challenged his party to work towards winning all elective positions in the next polls.

Raila who spoke briefly asked the party leaders to consolidate support from the grassroots and push the party to win the polls.

Tunataka mfanye vizuri ODM iweze kushinda uchaguzi. Kuanzia mashinani hapa chini (I want you to do well so that ODM can will the polls starting from the grassroots level),” Raila stated.

The former Prime Minister mentioned each of the elective positions starting from Member of County Assembly (MCA) to the president while the people answered by shouting ‘ODM.’

Raila who is eyeing the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position, did not delve deeper into what the future arrangement would look like since ODM allowed a few of its members to serve in President William Ruto’s Cabinet.

ODM leaders sentiments

Co-operatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya who spoke before inviting Raila, expressed confidence in the current crop of ODM leaders asking them to continue popularising the party ahead of the next polls.

He challenged Osotsi to work towards extending ODM’s dominance during the next 2027 polls.

Oparanya further called on ODM members to pray and support Raila for his AUC race. He argued that a win for Raila would mean a win for the continent.

On his side, Siaya Governor James Orengo asked ODM members and leaders to be prepared for any direction ahead of the 2027 polls.

Orengo stated that most progressive minds would join the party to push for change in the country.

“Ata kama ni kwa njia gani, 2027, lazima tuwe tayari. The entire progressive movement in Kenya, lazima itafuata chama ya ODM. Sasa chama ambayo itaongoza na kusimamia watu wa chini, ni chama ya ODM,” he said.

(We must be ready for 2027 by whichever means. The entire progressive movement in Kenya, will follow the ODM party. Now the party which will lead and stand for the people is ODM),” Orengo stated.
