Raila calls for calm over committee’s proposals
Radical proposals to introduce the position of Leader of the Official Opposition with two deputies in the just concluded National Dialogue has stirred a political storm within the Azimio coalition.
The idea has been loved and loathed in equal measure among some key members of the coalition, who are not contented with some of the proposed solutions.
While the measures aim at promoting national unity, there are some who are now reading from a different script.
Final word
Yesterday, however, Azimio leader Raila Odinga called for patience from his supporters and wait for he and President William Ruto to give the final word on the report.
“I have received the report and I am yet to read the recommendations, so I am not going to speak about it now,” he said.
Raila spoke while on a tour of Migori County to launch a recruitment drive for new members amid stiff competition from UDA leadership, making relentless effort to win support in Nyanza.
Leader of Minority in the National Assembly, Opiyo Wandayi declined to be drawn into the debate.
