PHOTOS: Gachagua meets Embu leaders led by MP Gitonga Mukunji at his residence

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday, May 2, 2025, hosted a high-level consultative meeting with a delegation of leaders from Embu County at his Wamunyoro Residence, in what he described as a continuation of his commitment to a people-centred, consultative leadership style.
The delegation was led by Manyatta MP and Chairman of the Young Parliamentarians Association, Hon. Gitonga Mukunji, and included several notable leaders, such as Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara and aspiring Embu politician Steve Simba, a known ally of Mukunji.

The photos shared on the former deputy president’s Facebook page show the leaders seated in a circle within the manicured compound, deeply engaged in discussion.
“Extensive consultation with the people of Embu County led by Manyatta MP and chairman Young Parliamentarians Hon. Gitonga Mukunji and other leaders underscores my commitment to a consultative approach to issues affecting Kenyans, my fellow countrymen,” the former Deputy President wrote.
He noted that the session was a listening forum where Embu residents’ concerns were laid bare through their leaders and assured them that his office remained open to dialogue and inclusion.
“I have heard the people of Embu County. I will be with you every step of the way towards a better Kenya where no one is left behind,” he added.

Jayne Kihara, the vocal Naivasha legislator, also joined in the talks and contributed to what Gachagua described as a continuing liberation journey for a country that demands greater equity and fairness in governance.
Not lost to keen observers from the images shared was a new addition to the Wamunyoro Residence—an eye-catching red-and-white signage reading “I LOVE WAMUNYORO” prominently displayed within the premises, reinforcing the ex-DP’s growing branding around his private residence as a centre of political dialogue.
Meeting with Laikipia leaders
Days after hosting leaders from Meru County, including the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a charm offensive targeting Laikipia leaders.
In a statement on Monday, April 28, 2025, Gachagua confirmed his meeting with some elected leaders from Laikipia. The delegation that trooped to his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri was led by Laikipia Senator John Kinyua.
Former Laikipia woman representative Cate Waruguru, one of Gachagua’s loyal lieutenants, also attended the meeting.
Gachagua further confirmed that some members of the area county assembly also joined the meeting led by County Secretary Koinange Wahome.
“Today, I had the pleasure of hosting an insightful consultation meeting at my Wamunyoro residence with the elected members of the Laikipia County Assembly led by the County Secretary Koinange Wahome, Laikipia Senator John Kinyua and former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru,” Gachagua’s statement read in part.
What was discussed
In the statement, Gachagua intimated that their talks were centred around ways to develop the county and identified pathways to fulfilling the agenda.

According to the former DP, the conversation was extended beyond ways to help develop the entire country.
“It was an engaging discussion focused on the development of our beloved county and identifying the pathways forward.
“We shared great ideas and insights towards our collective efforts in shaping the future of Laikipia and our country in general. “
