Paul Muite predicts 2027 vote will defy rigging attempts
Veteran Kenyan lawyer and politician Paul Muite has declared that the outcome of the 2027 General Election will be so decisive that any attempts at rigging will be rendered impossible, despite what he described as a compromised electoral environment.
In a New Year message issued on January 1, 2026, via his official X account, Muite said the scale of public dissatisfaction across the country points to an overwhelming electoral shift that cannot be manipulated.
“Good News this January 1st, 2026, is that the margin of loss in next year’s elections will be so wide as to make rigging impossible despite this compromised IEBC,” Muite stated.
Shifting political ground
The former Safina party leader argued that the political ground has shifted dramatically across traditionally diverse voting blocs, signalling a nationwide revolt against the status quo.
“Look across Kenya, Western, R. Valley itself, Eastern, Central Kenya Kisii, Luo Nyaza. Grassroots is gone,” he stated.

Matiang’i’s message
Muite’s remarks come a day after Jubilee Deputy Party leader Fred Matiang’i urged Kenyans, particularly the youth, to take active steps in shaping the country’s future, emphasising voter registration ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“May I take this early opportunity to wish you a Happy and Prosperous 2026. I thank the Almighty God for the precious gift of life throughout a challenging year, 2025, and for allowing us to cross over into 2026. We navigated a difficult year, 2025, that was characterized by increased cost of living, declining quality of healthcare, high rates of insecurity, and unprecedented cases of school dropouts due to delayed government funding under free education programmes, among other challenges,” Matiang’i stated.
“Unless substantial efforts are made in 2026, our country will continue sliding into the abyss of poverty and dehumanising living conditions. Unprecedented corruption levels within government and unfair distribution of public resources continue to hurt our country in unimaginable ways.”
