Osotsi vs Ojienda: Senators clash over Kisumu goon attack

By , April 29, 2026

The political temperature reached a boiling point on Wednesday night, April 29, 2026, as two senior senators faced off over a violent assault that rocked the region.

Appearing in a joint interview, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and his Kisumu counterpart Prof. Tom Ojienda addressed the vile attack that recently targeted Osotsi at a Kisumu coffee house.

The interview took a sharp turn when Senator Osotsi alleged that the individuals captured on CCTV footage during the assault were not strangers to the Kisumu political scene, describing them as “shared goons” who have links to his colleague.

Senator Osotsi did not mince words, claiming that Professor Ojienda had already admitted to him that some of the men involved were known to him.

“Senator Ojienda agrees with me that some of the youths captured in the CCTV are shared goons,” Osotsi said.

“He has also told me that he didn’t send them but agrees that some of those youth work for him.”

The Vihiga Senator went further, demanding that Ojienda “produce them” to the authorities.

He also took the opportunity to shoot down government claims regarding the whereabouts of the goons.

“Murkomen has lied that they are out of the country. The truth of the matter is that they are in Kisumu,” Osotsi stated.

Professor Tom Ojienda, a seasoned lawyer and Senior Counsel, remained composed as he distanced himself from the violence.

Defending his reputation, he insisted he was nowhere near the scene of the crime when the chaos erupted.

“I was not in Kisumu the weekend Senator Osotsi was attacked; I learnt of it later in the evening when I watched news,” Ojienda clarified.

While acknowledging the severity of the incident, Ojienda condemned the use of violence as a political tool.

“What happened to Senator Osotsi is unacceptable,” he said, adding that every leader is “entitled to a political persuasion” regardless of their party alignment.

The public face-off highlights the deepening fractures within the region’s leadership.

The vile attack on Senator Osotsi has raised serious concerns about the safety of politicians who deviate from local political norms.

Osotsi’s insistence that the “shared goons” are still hiding in plain sight in Kisumu puts fresh pressure on local law enforcement to make arrests.
