Osotsi: Linda Mwananchi will cause an earthquake soon
By Mabonga Makhanu, May 27, 2026Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has stated that the Linda Mwananchi movement is going to cause a political earthquake in the near future.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader stated that in the coming days, many people are going to join the movement, which will make it stronger, capable of shaking the political circles.
He went ahead to state that many politicians from outside the ODM party have expressed interest in joining the movement from different parts of the country and parties.

“Viongozi wengi wameongea na sisi, wamesema wanakuja. Hapo mbele mtaona ma-earthquake zinafanyika kutoka Mlima Kenya, kutoka Pwani,” he said.
Osotsi continued by stating that should such developments happen, coupled with the public excitement the movement is currently enjoying, there is nothing that will stop them from fielding a presidential candidate to face President William Ruto.
Linda Mwananchi clout
The Linda Mwananchi team, which broke away from the mainstream ODM party after what appeared to be the mishandling of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, has been attracting admiration from politicians outside the party. This has seen the faction hold meetings in undisclosed locations with leaders from other parties.
They were recently spotted holding talks with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who also doubles as the deputy party leader of the Democratic Action Party (DAP-K).
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, they also held a meeting with Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who was elected on a United Democratic Alliance ticket but has since formed his own party, the United Patriotic Movement (UPM), which he earlier announced he would use as his vehicle for the Kakamega gubernatorial race in 2027.

The team also held a meeting with former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, with plans to hold a Linda Mwananchi rally in Meru in mid-June now gaining momentum.

Osotsi has also exuded confidence in the Linda Mwananchi faction, saying that it controls over 30 counties across the country.
This also comes days after a TIFA poll placed the faction higher, with 73 per cent support compared to their rivals in the now-defunct Oburu Odinga-led Linda Ground faction.
Savula dismisses Linda Mwananchi
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has, however, dismissed the popularity of Linda Mwananchi, saying it is like a bushfire that burns with fury but dies out quickly. He argued that the attention Edwin Sifuna is currently enjoying is a knee-jerk reaction from the public following his attempted ouster from the secretary general position and would eventually fade away.
On the other hand, Siaya Governor James Orengo, who is also a member of the Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi movement, has expressed confidence in the faction, terming it a tsunami that anyone attempting to stand in its way risks being swept away by.
